Pancake and short walk in Hoog Soeren, The Netherlands

Hoog Soeren is a very small village on the Veluwe (National Park). In summertime it can be very crowded with tourists passing by for a drink or eat. I went to the pancake restaurant Berg en Dal. I ate a pancake with apple and drank a tea. Yummie! 😁🥞

After lunch I went for a little walk. Starting at the white church. All the way around a cultivated field. And back to the white church.

High tea at Royal Daan

For my birthday I got a high tea. Today (Saturday 19 September 2020) I went with my mom to Royal Daan for the high tea. This place has the best ever high tea in the area!

Royal Daan is a small lunchroom. If you want to do a high tea over here, you better make a reservation. Especially on a sunny Saturday. Me and my mom sat at a round table in front of a window. You will have a nice view on the street. At the high tea you would get one course after another (not at the same time). The schedule for the high tea was as follow:

Cold rose tea (YUMMIE)

Green tea of roses

Scones (you will get 2 and they are warm; aside there is cream, strawberry jam and lemon curd, you can put this on the scones)

A plate of various little sandwiches (salmon sandwich, Brie sandwich, American filet (meat) sandwich, quiche pie, cheesecake pie (strawberry/vanilla/raspberry) and a strawberry on a stick which was covered with dark chocolate and white chocolate sprinkles).

Lady grey tea

Mango smoothie

A plate with a butterscotch, white chocolate mousse pie with caramel sauce and a chocolate lolly

Truffle tea (YUMMIE)

The portions of the food were right (not too much or small).

Me and my mom where here for one and a half hour. It all depends on how quick or slow you eat.

Picking blue berries in Ermelo, The Netherlands

Always wanted to pick blue berries yourself? Go to Pollekamp in Ermelo.

I have done picking blue berries with family in Canada. It was really nice to do so. So, back home I searched the internet for a place to do so. And this place popped up. I am coming to this place for years now.

There are 8 fields of bushes of blue berries. Each day you will pick berries from a different field.

When you arrive at this place, you will go to the little shop. In the shop you will get a bucket to put the berries in. When you get the bucket, they will tell you which field you will be picking. And off you go! You can pick as much as you like. Sometimes I have the bucket half full. Other times I have the bucket completely full. Depending how many berries are on the bushes. Once you are done, you go back to the shop. You give the bucket and let it weigh. You pay what you picked (cash only, no cards). In 2020 the price is € 4,75 per kilogram. I pick between 1.5 and 4 kilogram of berries.

In 2020 I picked:
11 July: 1.7 kilogram
14 July: 3.9 kilogram
22 July: 3.1 kilogram

You can have a drink and a slice of cake.

When I am home, a part of the berries goes in the freezer. The other part I am making jam out of it.

Zandsculpturen / Sand sculptures in Garderen, The Netherlands (June 2020)

Each year the sand sculptures have a different theme. This year (2020) it is ‘75 jaar bevrijding’ (75 years of liberation). It has been 75 years ago that the Netherlands has been saved from the Germans in World War II.

The first part you will see sculptures from the war and the liberation. From Hitler, the leaders of the west during WW II, life in general during the war, the soldiers and the liberation of the Netherlands. The sculptures are part inside and part outside.

The second part is all inside. This part is a quiz. Each year a different theme as well. In 2020 it was cities. There were 36 cities shown. It is up to you to guess the right city. You put your answer on a form (which you get from the start of this quiz). When you have named them all, you will get a sentence. With this sentence you could win a price.

All the sculptures at this place are handmade. About 20 to 30 people are making these sculptures. It is amazing how they can make these sculptures from sand.
They use a special varnish over the sculptures. This way the sculptures are protected against rain ☔️ and hail.

There are also some shops for your interior. In the restaurant you could get some food and/or a drink.

Christmasmarket in Düsseldorf, Germany, 9 December 2019

In the morning I went off to Germany. First I went to Kleve. I  got stamps for my mail. In Germany the stamps are more cheaper then in the Netherlands. And Germany is nearby where I live.... So, after that I went to Düsseldorf. Once the car was parked, I went to the Altstatt. Altstatt is the old city center of Düsseldorf. I walked over Königsallee. This is the most expensive street: Tiffany’s, Versace, Louise Vuitton... All the major expensive stores are here. And if you like expensive cars like Porsche, Ferrari, etc., you can see them up here as well. Next stop are the Christmas stalls. You can buy some  Christmas presents. Also you can get a saucage on a bread. Yummie!! 😁👍 In another stall you can get a drink. For those who likes it, can get a Glühwein. I got hot chocolate. Finished, I went to the Shadow Arkaden. Up here there are a lot of shops under 1 roof. It is fun to walk along the shops. 😁 In the middle there is a huge Christmas tree. 🎄 At one of the exits, there is a bakery. They sell all sorts of sweets. And upstairs you can have a drink and eat something. I had a tea and a piece of a fruit pie. 🍰☕️ Which was yummie as well!! Perfect end for the day.
