Village of Dwingeloo, The Netherlands

Dwingeloo is a small village of about 2425 inhabitants. In the city centry you will find a green square (lots of trees and a pond). Around this square you will find shops, tourist info, restaurants and old houses. Really great to have a stroll around and use one of the restaurants.

All pictures are my won.

Open air museum Ellert and Brammert, Schoonoord, The Netherlands

Ellert and Brammert were local men who appear in a saga these days. The saga goes that both men are stealing murderer. But as it goes from stories back in the days (arround 1660), there are many and various ones. Which one to believe?

Ellert and Brammert are part of this museum. Mainly the museum is about how life was in the past in the province of Drenthe. You will find about 26 buildings: various mud huts, tollhouse, school, jail, sawmill, black smith and church are a few to mention.

It is really interesting to see how people used to live.

National Park Dwingelderveld, The Netherlands

This National Park is located between Dwingelo, Ruinen and Beilen in the province of Drenthe. The size of this Park is about 37km2.

You can go for walking/hiking, cycling, horse riding and bird watching. You will see various nature: forrest, ling, mere, birds, cows and sheep.

The 3 main walking routes are:

Dwingelderveldroute (4.5 km, red)

Forrest and ling route (7km, white)

Bowlder route (2.7km)

There also is a walking route of 13km (grey), but I can't remember the name of this route.

I did the Dwingelderveldroute. It was a great route! It also was a benefit that the weather was really nice as well (part sunny, part clowdy, +22C). The beginning and ending of this route is at the visitor centre. You can park your car at the parking place opposite the visitor centre. There is plenty of space.

The pictures which are shown here, are my own.
