Kamp Wersterbork was open during WWII. It was a transit camp for arrested Dutch Jewish people and Sinta (Roma people). There where about 102,000 people who stayed here during that period.
The majority of them ended up in Auschwitz and Sobibor. Most of them never returned.
At the site you will find a train wagon (where all the Jewish and Sinta got transported in), a barrack (where the Jewish and Sinta stayed), a house where the guards lived and a monument. Most of the buildings, clothes and other things didn't survived this period. What you see today are replica from the original.
It is good that this place excist. We should remember the people who lost their lifes during this tragic period.
All these pictures are my own.
