Food at restaurants during my holiday (September 2023)

Here are pictured of food I ate during my holiday.

Tuinverblijf Lauwersmeer, Anjum, The Netherlands

 

During my holiday in September 2023 I stayed in an apartment named Tuinverblijf Lauwersmeer. It is a chalet style accommodation. The owners build it in their back yard (he is a carpenter). It is a small accommodation. But for myself it is big enough. 

It has a double bed, kitchen, microwave, fridge, bathroom and a seating area. Outside there are 2 seating areas which I can use. I can also use the backyard for shadow.

On the day I arrived, the hostess (really nice person) was there to introduce me into the apartment. She explained what was where, the password for the internet, a bit about the village, etc. I could also use bicycles if I wanted to cycle around the area.

Lauwersmeerdijk, theNetherlands

 Lauwersmeerdijk is close to the boarder of the provinces Friesland and Groningen. It over looks the Waddenzee (sea) at one side and Lauwersmeer (lake) at the other side. 

At this dike you will have great panorama views. At low tide you can spot various birds.

When I was there, it was cloudy and a strong wind. It was hard to walk around. But nice to watch the sea and hear the birds (mainly seagulls).

Walk in Wierum, the Netherlands

 

Wierum is a very small village in the north of Friesland. There are about 315 people living in this village. 

The village is located behind a dike. At the other side you will find the Waddenzee (sea). 

First I walked to the fishermen monument on the dike. On 1 december 1893 there was heavy snow storm at sea. 17 fishing boats went out. Only 4 of them returned. 22 fisher men lost their life during this storm. 

Then I walked to the other side. The sea side. It was quite windy when I was there. It also was low tide. 

Back at the village side, I walked around. There are interesting buildings. In the past there used to be a small harbour. Boats would bring/collect goods like peat and fish But as time goes by, certain goods went out of business. And so the harbour closed.

Walk in Oostmahorn, the Netherlands

I started this walk at the lighthouse of Oostmahorn. Here you will have a great view over Lauwersmeer (lake). Especially on a sunny and warm day. Sailing boats and motor boats will pass. It is a nice view. 

Walking on the dike you will have views over the lake at one side and the village at the other side. 

On the way back I walked through the village. It seemed to be holiday houses to me. Anyway, the houses looked really nice on the outside.

Klompen museum (clog museum), Noardburgum, the Netherlands

 Clogs are one of the items you can relate to my country. 

In the past there were various type of clogs made. Work clogs, clogs with high heels, clogs as a wedding present for the bride. Each region had his own style of clogs. At this museum they are specialized for the Frisian clogs. Since 1840 the same family are making these clogs (6th generation today). 

The museum shows various clogs from a long time ago. They also are from abroad (like Japan, Spain and Sweden). They show how a clog was made back in the days (1800's) and today (engine).

Back in the days, it didn't make a difference if the clog was safe to use at work. Nowadays they have to be certified as a CE shoe.

It is really interesting to see all these clogs. For some clogs it is a miracle that people could walk on these clogs. Not comfortable at all!
